Why I’m Talking About Nutrition Again (Even if It Pisses Some People Off)

Let’s get one thing straight.

Nutrition has always been part of my coaching. In fact, from 2014 to 2018, it was my full-time gig (my sole income) before I opened the gym. But over the past few years, I’ve been quieter about it. Not because I don’t believe in its importance. And definitely not because I’ve stopped giving a shit. Quite the opposite.

It’s because talking about nutrition online these days can feel like stepping into a minefield.

On one side, I’ve got my gym members and clients asking for help. Real, practical help. They're confused. They’re sick of the fads. They’re tired of restriction. They’re done with being told to track every bite like their worth depends on it. They’re busy, tired, juggling a million things, and just want to feel good in their own skin without losing their minds over food.

They want to feel better, have more energy, enjoy their food again. An yes, some want to change how their body looks too.

On the other side, there’s a corner of the anti-diet space that treats any conversation about body goals like it’s a betrayal of everything good and holy. That if you mention "weight loss" or "fat loss", you’ve joined the dark side, and you're feeding the diet culture monster.

So let me be crystal clear.

Just because I am anti-diet culture, that does not mean I am anti-weight loss.

It’s a paradox, I know. But one I stand by.

I believe in body autonomy.

I will always support your right to choose what’s best for you. Without restriction, guilt, or shame. My job is to help you pursue your goals in a way that doesn’t mess with your head or your health.

Here’s where I stand:

I’m anti food rules. Anti moralising food. Anti counting calories like your life depends on it.

I’m anti using exercise as punishment. Anti feeling like you need to earn your meals.

I’m anti obsession, rigidity, deprivation, and basing your worth on what size jeans you wear.

But I’m also pro you.

Pro health-promoting behaviours. Pro sound nutrition knowledge.

Pro choosing to eat for enjoyment. Pro satisfaction.

Pro strength, energy, and feeling good in your body. Whatever that means to you.

That’s why I’m bringing nutrition back into the conversation.

Over the next few months, I'll be creating a practical, no-bullshit guide to nutrition. A mix of blog posts, mini lessons, and mindset support woven in. Starting with the basics and digging deeper as we go.

Not calorie-counting. Not rules. Not “clean eating” or 1200-calorie meal plans. Not ridiculous supermarket swaps, or “you must swap your bread for lettuce and your chocolate for dates” nonsense.

Just real-life, practical tools, with a heavy focus on mindset, so you can feel free around food again.

This is for the woman who’s tried it all and is done.

Done with restriction. Done with all-or-nothing thinking. Done with fad diets that suck the joy out of food. And definitely done with being made to feel like her goals are invalid.

Yes, we’ll talk about fat loss. But we’ll talk about it with respect. Respect for your body, your life, and your mental health. Because looking good on the outside means nothing if you feel like absolute shoite on the inside.

We’ll talk about energy, sleep, cravings, hunger, enjoyment, satisfaction. I’ll talk about how to build a plate that leaves you full. Not just physically, but emotionally too.

Because that’s the gap I see. It’s not that people don’t know what to eat. It’s that they don’t know how to eat in a way that feels good, sustainable, and sane. They’re exhausted from trying to follow all-or-nothing rules, or they’re scared to do anything at all in case they get it wrong again.

As someone who’s been through the worst of diet culture and come out the other side, I feel like it’s my job, my moral obligation, to speak up and help you find a middle ground.

So that’s what this is.

I’ll be starting with my gym members first. Pulling together the practical content I’ve already written (and that many of you have asked for), and eventually turning it into a full free course. Down the line, when I’m back in the swing of things post-baby (due November), I’ll open a coached version too.

Because here’s the thing. You can Google nutrition advice ‘til the cows come home. But knowing what to do and actually doing it are two different things. That’s where coaching comes in.

It’s like the gym. Having access to weights doesn’t get you strong. Using them does. But doing it with support, guidance, encouragement and a plan? That’s what gets results.

This will be the last dietary approach many of you will ever need. Not because it’s revolutionary, but because it’s realistic. It’s rooted in freedom (which, in case you didn’t know, is exactly why the gym is called what it is). Back when I was only doing nutrition coaching, I said the word “freedom” so often that I eventually named my nutrition coaching business Freedom Nutrition and the gym to match.

Because that’s what my coaching, and my life's work, is really about. Helping you reclaim your freedom. All while respecting that your health is not just physical, but mental, emotional, and social too.

If some people don’t like that? So be it. I didn’t get into this work to please everyone. I got into it to help women like you feel good again.

Strong. Clear-headed. Peaceful around food. Free in your choices. Confident in your skin.

That’s the mission.

And it starts now.
